One Christmas Tree, Two Different Looks

If you've been reading my blog long, you'll remember that last Christmas I was having

tree problems

(too many spiders, needles falling and the tree almost toppling over) last year, I said that I will be looking for a fake tree right after Christmas.

Well... by the time Christmas was over last year, I didn't go looking for a tree on sale.  When Christmas is over, the last thing I have in mind is finding a tree, I'm just ready to get my house back to normal, so I didn't get that fake tree on sale last year.

BUT... this past November, as I was browsing the black Friday sale ads,  I happened upon the Home Depot ad and found a fake tree on major sale...

... I had my husband pick it up for me (he got the last one) and while setting up the tree, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that with just a click of a button...

... our tree can go from those white lights you saw above to...

 ... colored lights!!

Is that not the coolest thing you ever did see?  I think it is and here's why... For our entire married life, my husband and I have never agreed on the lights for the tree.  He wants color lights and I want the white lights and every year it's the same thing.

In years past I've done two tree's to please the both of us, one with color lights and the other with white ones.  These past couple of years... well, I've just gotten my way I guess ;)

After getting this tree, our little issue with the lights is solved and I'm so excited!

If you have the same issue at your home, why not put both colored and white lights on the tree and plug in the one that you want on for that night.  I can't believe that I didn't I think of this years ago?!

So.. this year we have our new fake tree (yeah, it doesn't make the house smell all yummy, but that can be fixed with candles) and this year I also decided to try something I've never done before...

I decided to decorate the tree with only cream and gold ribbon and ornaments.

I do have a little burlap ribbon throughout the tree too.

the angel sits atop the tree, same as last year.

I love the natural colored ornaments on the tree.

Oh and I found this adorable skirt at Home Goods.  Home Goods has GREAT prices on tree skirts and they have so many to choose from that are gorgeous and quite large.

Here's the tree with the colored lights on.

I really don't mind it at all.

But I do prefer the white lights, myself.

It's actually a funny thing... every night, I'll turn the lights on and click to the white lights. Every time my 4 year old (yes, that's my baby.. he's 4!) see's the white lights, he goes over to the tree, clicks the button and says... "No, I like color!"  It is so stinkin cute! He doesn't say it in a sassy way, he says it in an adorable way and it makes me :) every time, cuz it's become a little joke between us.

So... that's our tree this year... One tree, Two different looks.

You probably noticed that I put the tree in a different spot this year as well. I also moved my

Snow Village Set

, because I temporarily covered up the niche above my fireplace (you'll see how next week during my Christmas Decor Home Tour for 2012.)

This weekend, I'll show you the new home for my snow village set... We thinks it's AWESOME!

May you be a little inspired!

Until next time,
