White Pumpkin Decorating Idea

Looking for an easy and beautiful white pumpkin decorating idea for fall? These DIY painted pumpkins are a simple way to create elegant seasonal décor without carving a pumpkin.

White pumpkins are a favorite for fall decorating because they have a clean, neutral look that works beautifully with farmhouse, traditional, modern, and rustic décor. Best of all, you can create these DIY white pumpkins with just a few inexpensive supplies.

How to Make DIY White Pumpkins

For this project, I used faux pumpkins and transformed them with white spray paint and glitter glue. It’s an easy no-carve pumpkin decorating idea that can be completed in just a few simple steps.

What You'll Need

  • Faux pumpkins

  • White spray paint

  • Glitter glue

  • Hot glue gun

  • A rag or cloth

These were on sale at Walmart -so I picked up a few of them.

I had spray paint on hand.

Here’s the How to:

Step 1: Prepare the Pumpkins

Start by removing the stems from your faux pumpkins. Set the stems aside - you'll add them back after painting.

Place the pumpkins in a well-ventilated area and spray-paint them white. Allow the paint to dry according to the directions on the can.

The pumpkins I used dried very quickly, making this a particularly easy DIY fall decorating project.

Step 2: Reattach the Stems

Once the white paint is completely dry, use a hot glue gun to attach the stems back onto the pumpkins.

That's it! You now have simple white pumpkins ready to decorate.

Then I used Glitter Glue to decorate the pumpkins.

Step 3: Add a Little Sparkle

To give the pumpkins some extra personality, use glitter glue to create decorative designs.

You can add dots, swirls, lines, or any pattern you like. For a more subtle look, apply the glitter glue and then use a rag to gently wipe some of it away before it dries.

This creates a soft, slightly distressed effect while still giving the pumpkins a little sparkle.

How to Use White Pumpkins in Your Fall Décor

These DIY white pumpkins can be displayed throughout your home during the fall season.

Place them:

  • On a mantel or fireplace

  • On an entryway table

  • In a decorative bowl

  • On a bookshelf

  • On a dining room table

  • As part of a Thanksgiving centerpiece

  • On a covered porch or entryway

Because white pumpkins have a neutral color palette, they're especially easy to incorporate into existing fall decorations. If you don’t want to carve real pumpkins, you could do this with them too.

My boys and I will still do our traditional pumpkin carving night with our real pumpkins.  Since it’s already the middle of October, I should probably get on that one huh?

DIY White Pumpkins for Thanksgiving

I may use these pumpkins as part of my Thanksgiving table décor. A collection of white pumpkins makes an easy and inexpensive centerpiece, especially when combined with greenery, candles, fall leaves, or other seasonal accents.

You could also add simple name tags to the pumpkins and use them as place-card holders for Thanksgiving dinner.

An Easy Fall DIY Anyone Can Make

I love projects like this because they don't require complicated tools or advanced crafting skills. With a few faux pumpkins, white spray paint, and a little glitter glue, you can create beautiful DIY fall decorations in very little time.

And since they're faux pumpkins, you can bring them out year after year.

If you're looking for easy pumpkin decorating ideas without carving, give these simple white pumpkins a try. They're inexpensive, customizable, and perfect for fall and Thanksgiving decorating.

May you be a little inspired.
