How to Paint Furniture
I could not even count how many pieces of furniture that I’ve painted through the years.
I’ve been using Farmhouse Paint for many years now. I love it so much, because there’s no prep needed and there’s no wax needed in the end.

Here’s the step by step on how to paint furniture:
Prep the furniture:
When removing the drawers from a dresser, I mark the sides of the drawers so I know where it goes when I’m finished painting and putting it all back together. That way everything fits back together perfectly.
Remove hardware.
Wipe the piece clean with a cloth, or paper towel.
If needed, fill holes or dings with spackle, let it dry and lightly sand that area before painting.
start painting
Stir the paint before starting.
Paint one coat at a time with a brush or a roller, letting the paint completely dry between coats. Paint in the direction of the wood grain.
Tip - dip your brush into water from time to time. If needed, you can even add a little water to your paint and stir it.
Tip - put your paint brush in a plastic bag or wrap it with Saran Wrap in between coats, so it doesn’t harden.
FINISH IT
Often times I like to spray paint the original hardware with a different color or I add completely new hardware.
Finish your painted piece off with a light sanding with sandpaper.
Put it all back together and enjoy your beautiful new painted piece.
Take a look at some of the other makeovers I have done with paint:
Like I said, Farmhouse paint is my all time favorite paint for furniture. I mostly use black noir, white ash, cotton white or creamy linen.
May you be a little inspired,
Until Next Time,
